Step 2: Do some research:- Is the development in a conservation area?
- Is the building an HMO (house of multiple occupancy)?
- Is a change of purpose being requested?
- Are there listed trees on the property?
- Are there listed buildings on the property?
- Check restrictive covenants: Obtain the land deeds from the Land Registry office and see if there are covenants mentioned that may be useful. Although the Council can not take in the matter of Restrictive Covenants, this is a very effective tactic to fight against development. It is advisable to seek a legal expert for advice in this area of the law. See links and contacts
